Our Mission |
Project Scope |
Our goal is to create an accurate, affordable, and portable device to better characterize muscle spasticity. Current prevalent methods involving the Modified Ashworth Scale leave something to be desired. By using a streamlined quantitative methodology and developing a streamlined smartphone application, clinicians all around the world are now one step closer to a more accurate way of determining different degrees of muscle spasticity in patients.
|
Our device measures three critical components of spasticity, namely, range of motion, velocity, and resistance to motion. With these three key parameters, the torque can be calculated at a range of different velocities. This data then translates directly to a numerical value defining spasticity. The interface is intuitive and the method requires no background knowledge, thus making it extremely simple for any physician, nurse, or therapist to implement for patient use.
